INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It’s break time for the Colts. As coaches and players scatter across the country for a five week vacation before training camp opens next month, Chuck Pagano has his own agenda as a new author.

Pagano spent time at Barnes and Noble in Carmel Saturday signing copies of his book Sidelined, Overcoming Odds through Unity, Passion and Perseverance. It’s the story of his fight against leukemia.

The Colts head coach tells 24-Hour News 8 the fan turnout at the signing was unbelievable.

“It just speaks to Hoosier hospitality,” Pagano said. “I go back to those dark days in the hospital and the way this city embraced me and my family and helped support us through the whole thing and through the circumstances and the adversity. We got no better fans, no better people than here in Indianapolis and Carmel, in this whole community, the whole state, so very, very blessed.”

Pagano follows in Tony Dungy’s footsteps after the Super Bowl champion head coach penned a group of successful books. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
