ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana Department of Natural Resource officers pulled the body of an Otwell man out of Patoka Lake Saturday evening after he dove from a boat and never came back up.

According to officers, Anthony Catt, 43, dove into the water from a pontoon boat. They believe he hit his head on the boat while diving in.

DNR divers searched for Catt using sonar and a remote operated vehicle that had an underwater camera. The camera found Catt’s body about 200 feet from shore in water that was 20 feet deep just before 9 p.m. Saturday.

Officers said Catt was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

They believe alcohol was a contributing factor.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday where an official cause of death will be determined.
