PAOLI, Ind. (AP) — One person died and two others were wounded in a triple shooting at a mobile home in southern Indiana, state police said Monday.
Medical personnel arriving at the rural scene north of Paoli on Monday afternoon found Nicholas Fields, 56, dead inside the mobile home and two others wounded outside, one critically, Indiana State Police Sgt. Phillip Hensley said.
Cory Michael Harris, 25, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and Daniel Smitson, 29, was shot in the mouth, Hensley said. The men, both from Paoli, were being treated at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
One of the men was critically injured, Hensley said, without identifying him.
There were no immediate arrests in the case.
“At this point we’re kind of lacking on witnesses. We’re lacking on other information,” Hensley said. “… We’re fairly confident we can put the pieces together, but it’s very shaky and very early right now.”
Orange County Sheriff Richard Dixon said a woman who was passing by the mobile home saw one man lying on the ground beside a pickup truck and called police.
Authorities did not say when the shootings occurred or other details.
Paoli is located about 45 miles northwest of Louisville.
