FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Police have identified a man killed in Fishers late Sunday night.
Fishers Police Department officials said 18-year-old Connor J. Shockley, of Fishers, was killed. They identified 18-year-old Corbin M. Montgomery as a suspect. He faces possible charges of murder, a Class A felony, and involuntary manslaughter, a Class C felony.
Just before 11 p.m., police say they were called to a fight on Wooster Court in the Harrison Green neighborhood. When they arrived, they say they found Shockley in a yard between two houses.
Police say he died at the scene of an apparent stabbing. The knife was found at the scene.
“We do have one suspect in custody, and we are speaking to several witnesses at this time,” said Sgt. Tom Weger with the Fishers Police Department. “The investigation is very fresh, so our investigators are speaking with individuals to try to piece this together.”
Police say an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Fishers Police say this is the first homicide in 20 years and only the second homicide ever in Fishers.
Montgomery was being held at the Hamilton County Jail without bond on Monday.
Hamilton Southeastern schools released the following statement and information about counseling:
We are deeply saddened by the death of Connor Shockley.
When the Hamilton Southeastern school district suffers such a tragedy, we struggle and question and grieve. We extend our sympathies to all those who knew Connor. It is difficult to come to terms with this kind of sadness and loss.
We will offer counseling for any of our students and staff who wish to seek help at the Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers High Schools counseling offices from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the rest of the week.
