Basilmomma has refreshing ways to stay cool this summer

Mango-Grape-Banana Ice Cream

10 ounce bag of frozen unsweetened mango chunks
1 C frozen red grapes
1 large ripe banana
1/4 C freshly squeezed orange juice (or from a carton if you have it)
pinch of salt (odd, I know, but it made a difference in the sweetness of the fruit)

In a food processor, combine all ingredients.  Process until very smooth, about 2 or 3 minutes.

You may need to stop and scrape it down.  Serve immediately or pour into Popsicle molds.

It will have the consistency of soft serve.

Fruit infused water

2 quart pitcher, fill half of it with ice cubes.

Add chosen fruit such as berries, diced apples, citrus slices, watermelon, cucumber, mint or other herbs.

Ex:) I will use 1 whole lemon or orange , 1/2 C mint leaves (washed), or 1 pint of sliced strawberries or whole berries.

Use a wooden spoon to muddle it a bit- I like to see the little flecks of fruit in my glass!

Then I fill to the top with water.  As the day goes on I do add more water.

By the end of the day it is less potent but we have enjoyed it all day and by the end there is not much fruit left!

It was close and at the ready for my kids to refill their own glasses and they liked trying to get a little fruit in each glass !
