IMPD captain to appear in court

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department captain accused of driving drunk will make his first court appearance on Wednesday.

Captain Mark Rice is currently on administrative duty. He was arrested early Saturday morning.

Police say he drove his car onto the median on the exit ramp from northbound Interstate 465 to Washington Street. He was off duty at the time.

Officials say Rice submitted to a blood draw. His blood is being analyzed at a crime lab.
