INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A living memorial honored those who gave their organs on Wednesday.

There are hundreds of names on the wall created by the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization. They’re the names of people who died. But not before they agreed to give the gift of life.

On Wednesday, families of donors got the chance to find their loved one’s name on the wall and make an etching of it.

It’s something they can take home, and remember.

Dave Murphy an organ recipient said “all kind of emotions with tears joy, I just hope they realize that their gift wasn’t in vain. There are people like me out there, walking around, working, trying to lead a normal, everyday life, but we wouldn’t be here without them.”

The living memorial holds three years worth of donor names. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
