INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The first-ever Indy Mega Adoption event was a huge success. Organizers say all of the dogs available at the event had been adopted by 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Love Me, Fix Me campaign presented a showcase of around 12 rescues and shelters which made 750 cats and dogs available for adoption for a $30 fee.
Two rooms of the Indiana State Fairgrounds south pavilion were filled with cages of pets and designated meet-and-greet areas over the weekend.
The animals were able to go with their new owners immediately having already been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
“So many animals are euthanized in this country every year because there’s just not enough homes, so what we like to do is advocate for both spay and neuter and adoption. It’s a two-prong approach,” organizer Megan Bennett said.
