ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Indiana conservation officers are searching for a missing kayaker on Saturday in the St. Mary’s River in Decatur.

Indiana conservation officers have identified the kayaker as Steven Seitz, 54, of Decatur, Indiana.

According to the DNR, the two males were kayaking near the 2700 block of North US 33 Friday evening. One of the kayaks struck a log jam in the rivers, causing the kayak to overturn. The kayaker was thrown into the water and did not resurface.

Conservation officers said the man was not wearing a life jacket at the time.

Divers are searching the rivers using SONAR technology.
