Police respond to shooting at Wal-Mart

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police dispatch confirmed a shooting happened at the Wal-Mart in Beech Grove.

Police responded to a shooting in the 4600 block of South Emerson Avenue around 6:30 p.m., Monday.

Witness Cory Brooks said he was just walking into Wal-Mart when he heard a series of loud pops.

“I thought it was firecrackers at first cause it’s close to the fourth of July.”

However, it wasn’t fireworks it was men firing guns, and he said he knew he needed to get out of the way.

Police say two men hoping to sell about $3,000 worth of cell phones pulled up in front of the Wal-Mart to meet two buyers. One of the buyers got into the sellers truck.

Beech Grove police say there was an altercation that occurred in the vehicle. The victim then took off running.

The seller didn’t get far; he was shot in the arm and in the upper chest. About five or six shots rang out right in front of the door.

Police are searching for two suspects and two vehicles. One is a 2008 black Chevy Silverado. The license plate number TK 675 MCA. The car the suspects drove up in was a black Chevy Malibu.

Police say aside from being full of cell phones, the truck that was stolen also had two rifles and two pistols inside.
