BLACKFORD COUNTY (WISH) – A 9-year-old was hospitalized after a dirt bike accident.

Indiana Conservation Officers say a 9-year-old Montpelier boy was riding a dirt bike at a friend’s house in the 1500 block of West 1200 South on Tuesday. The helmet he was wearing had a faulty visor.

The visor came loose and fell in front of his eyes, blocking his view. That is when he hit a utility trailer with the dirt bike.

The boy received serious injuries to his leg. He was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital for surgery.
