IMPD: Man in Steuben Co. admits to killing woman in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Detectives with IMPD say they were contacted by police in Steuben County Tuesday who said they had someone in their custody who admitted to killing a woman in Indianapolis.

Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, homicide detectives responded to the 600 block of West Hanna Avenue and found 48-year-old Barbara McPheter dead inside an apartment.

IMPD detectives went to Steuben County and arrested 48-year-old Jimmie Monday and preliminarily charged him with murder in connection with McPheter’s death.

No other details were released Wednesday afternoon. Police say this is still an active investigation.
