INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police in Indianapolis are investigating after a man was shot in the face on the near northeast side of the city Wednesday afternoon.
Dispatchers with IMPD say officers responded just before noon to the 3000 block of North Gale Street. This is near East 30th Street and North Sherman Drive. They had received reports of shots fired there and in the 3100 block of North Olney Street.
Police arrived and found a male victim shot in the face. He was conscious and alert.
After investigating, police learned the man had walked up to someone and said he had been shot. Police say the shooting happened in the alley east of that location.
The man was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.
Police say a vehicle was seen leaving the area about the time of the shooting — a gold Suburban with four people inside. At this time police aren’t sure if that vehicle is connected to the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
