INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A new anti-violence program is starting in Indianapolis.

Organizers introduced the Him by Her Foundation in a news conference on Wednesday.

The program’s leader, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Detective Harry Dunn III, said he wants the foundation to help young people who are on a path toward a life of crime find more productive and rewarding ways to live.

“Having kids come inside, teaching them how to become entrepreneurs, learning how to build resumes, learning how to engage in the community,” Dunn said of some of the group’s goals.

Dunn said he’ll work with the juvenile justice system, the sheriff’s department, local businesses and others to give troubled teens access to job training, counseling, mentoring and other forms of support. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
