PERU, Ind. (WISH) — Police say the victim of a stabbing in Peru over the weekend was arrested, not the suspect.
Deputies in Miami County responded to a home northwest of Peru Sunday night for a stabbing report.
When they got there they found a 37-year-old man who said he was stabbed in the hand after grabbing an assailant’s knife blade during a struggle, 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at the Pharos-Tribune report.
He told the deputies the suspect left and that he didn’t know who the attacker was. While at the home, deputies learned the man had an active warrant out for his arrest on a criminal mischief charge.
He was arrested and taken to the Miami County Jail where he later bonded out. He also refused medical treatment.
