Man charged after crashing Jeep into pond

NOBLESVILLE,Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested a 32 year old Fishers man after he crashed his vehicle into a Noblesville retention pond early Thursday.

At 12:07 a.m.  Noblesville Police were called to Cumberland Road and North Point Boulevard after receiving a report that a vehicle had crashed into a retention pond.

Shortly after they arrived police located a driver and passenger of the vehicle. Both managed to get out of the vehicle that was partially submerged.

Witnesses told police they saw a Jeep going south on Cumberland Road when it left the roadway, struck a curb, sign, utility box and fence before coming to rest at the edge of the retention pond near North Point boulevard.

The driver, identified as Matt H. Rider was arrested on three preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The passenger, 34 year old Kristin A. Fitrzyk, also of Fishers, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
