Police arrest driver for DUI following crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police have identified the alleged drunk driver who crashed his car Friday morning on the city’s northwest side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Chris Bailey said Arthur Ruffin was arrested Friday morning.

Police said Ruffin’s car flipped over on 46th Street and Keystone Avenue around 11 a.m. He was trapped inside of the car.

Ruffin was removed from the vehicle and taken to Eskenazi Health. His condition had not been released as of Friday evening.

Police issued a warrant to draw Ruffin’s blood. He was preliminarily charged with Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving on Friday.

“This is one of the most celebrated holidays in the country; however, it’s no good to anybody if you end up hurt, or hurt somebody else because your celebration involved alcohol and driving,” said IMPD Sgt. Russell Burns.

No one else involved in the crash was injured.
