MARION, Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested a Kokomo man on four felony counts after a four-month long investigation.

The Indiana State Police say a complaint was made in February after the Grant County State Bank had been the victim of a fraudulent financial activity.

24-Hour News 8’s news partner at the Kokomo Tribune obtained a press release from the Indiana State Police from 2013. The release states Charles Scott Defabritis, 50, was arrested after obtaining several farm loans using false information. The loans were approximately $600,000.

Payments to the loan were not made on the outstanding balance even though some were repossessed.

Defabritis was charged with two counts of corrupt business influence, fraud on a financial institution and theft. He was being held in the Grant County Jail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
