JENNINGS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Florida police arrested a Jennings County grandma who took her three grandchildren there after learning the Indiana Department of Child Services was going to remove the children from her home.

According to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, Lisa McIntosh, 48, was going to be served with an emergency custody order for the removal of the children, ages 6, 17 months and 5 months, from her home.

Police said DCS had already removed three other children from McIntosh’s home before the emergency custody order was filed on June 23.

Before the order could be obtained, McIntosh left Indiana with the three kids. She was arrested in Dade City, Florida on June 28 by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Her three grandchildren were taken into protective custody by the Florida Department of Child Services.

McIntosh is currently being held in Florida but will return to Indiana. She was preliminary charged with Interfering with Child Custody, a class C felony.

The Indiana Department of Child Services is also arranging the return of the three children to Indiana.
