Police ID woman killed in motorcycle crash on southwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police have identified the woman who was killed in a motorcycle crash on the ramp that connects I-465 with I-70 on the city’s southwest side.

Indiana State Police said the crash happened near mile marker on Saturday at 7:25 p.m.

According to witness statements from a preliminary investigation, Kyle Lovell, 22 was driving the motorcycle toward the I-465 northbound ramp from I-70. The female passenger, Ashley Drake, 22, appeared to be adjusting her position on the bike causing Lovell to lose control.

The motorcycle they hit a guard rail and crashed.

Drake was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Lovell was taken to Eskanazi Hospital in critical condition.

Police said both Lovell and Drake were wearing helmets.
