INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Fire Department and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a robbery and fire at Kings Market in the 1500 block of Prospect Street on Sunday.

The owners of the store, a husband and wife, told police they were robbed at gunpoint and the suspects then set their business on fire.

According to the couple, around 10 a.m., two men entered the store through the front door carrying guns.

The suspects pointed the guns at the owner’s head and demanded money from him. The owner gave the suspects money and the two suspects left the store.

Firefighters said it’s still unclear how the fire started, but they believe it happened during the altercation with the owner.

Neighbors heard screams coming from inside the store and called 911 to report the fire, according to police.

Firefighters said the inside of the store was heavily damaged by the fire. No firefighters were injured in the fire.
