INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Spencer Moore, who is the father of another IMPD officer who was killed in the line of duty, talks about what needs to be done to prevent this from happening again.

“It all just opens the door again for what we went through, what Jo, my wife, I went through with David. And the sadness and sorrow and the tragedy, frustration, the anger, all of it just wells up,” Moore said on Daybreak Sunday.

Moore is a retired IMPD officer himself. ¬†Officer Renn was shot just one mile from where Spencer’s son, David Moore, died in 2011.

“They need to understand that he didn’t die for just no reason whatsoever. He didn’t die so that the next officer can go out and get killed in the line of duty. They need to know that this community cares and it’s going to do something about this and prevent this because it’s a horrible experience to lose a loved one like this, whether it’s a spouse, a child, whatever it is,” he said.
