Blood center seeks donations after ‘violent weekend’

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Blood Center asked for donations on Monday after what it characterized as a violent holiday weekend.

Seven people were shot in Broad Ripple, a police officer was killed and other people were injured in shootings over the holiday weekend.

The blood center said it was unable to fill 72 requests from hospitals for type O-negative blood as of Monday morning. Other blood types were below what the blood center considers “stable levels.”

Donations were requested in the next 24 to 48 hours. Here are donation centers:
