MADISON, Ind. (AP) — State police say a man driving his pickup truck from the Madison Regatta in southeastern Indiana was killed when he crashed into a car and then hit a guardrail.

Police say 55-year-old James Bagshaw of New Albany was driving on Indiana 62 just west of Madison on Sunday when his truck crossed the centerline and into oncoming traffic. Police say Bagshaw was ejected through the truck’s rear window and pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in the car involved and a passenger in the truck were treated for minor injuries.

Police say the use of marijuana and alcohol is believed to have contributed to causing the crash.

Thousands of people attended Madison’s annual boat race and festival along the Ohio River over the weekend.
