CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A road closure in Clay County is resulting in detours.

INDOT has announced that they have closed State Road 42 in Clay County, about one and a half miles west of State Road 59.

According to officials, heavy rains caused the twin pipe structures to erode, leaving the west bound lanes collapsed.

INDOT crews set up a detour that will follow S.R. 59 north to I-70 westbound, then to US 40/S.R. 46 then back north to S.R. 42.

It is unclear how long the road will be closed. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
