KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A new fire chief will be named in Kokomo after the current Fire Chief Pat O’Neil announced he will be stepping down.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s new partners at the Kokomo Tribune O’Neil made a formal recommendation for his successor to Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. He suggests Nick Glover lead the department and Mayor Goodnight agrees to appoint Glover as the new chief.

O’Neil has been with the department for 36 years and served as chief for the last five years. O’Neil will remain with the department as battalion chief to help transition Glover until his formal retirement in January 2016.
