INDIANAPOLIS, (WISH)—There were some anxious moments inside the emergency room at Witham Hospital in Lebanon Tuesday afternoon.

Boone County inmate, 20 year old Bradford Boyers was taken to the hospital when he was found unconscious in his cell. He had been in jail facing charges that included drug trafficking and possession of heroin.

While in the ER, Boyers “came to” and while he was partially restrained, he attempted to grab Officer Susan Kinney’s gun as she reached for medical gloves.

Authorities say Boyer latched on to the gun in the holster. Kinney fell to the floor with struggled to keep the gun away from him until nurses and medics jumped in to help.

Boyer was quickly restrained.

Once doctors released Boyer from the hospital, he was taken back to the Boone County Jail where he will face additional charges that include Resisting Law Enforcement, and  Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
