INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Chief Rick Hite said he’d like to think Officer Perry Renn was the prototype for the kind of officer Indianapolis needs.

One of the reasons, Officer Renn was awarded the medal of bravery not once, but twice.

24-Hour News 8 reported earlier this week that Officer Renn and another officer were given the medal of bravery in 2003 for saving the life of a suicidal man.

Tuesday we learned Officer Renn also got the medal of bravery in December of 1999.

Renn confronted a man wielding a knife, who was threatening several people. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
