INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Department of Transportation had to close the westbound exit from Interstate 70 to Indianapolis International Airport Tuesday.

The emergency closure was because of a large, overhead sign that was damaged in a crash. INDOT said it must remove the sign to ensure the safety of drivers.

Eastbound drivers were still able to exit from I-70 to the airport.

INDOT said the area should re-open around 4 p.m., but lane restrictions will remain in place.
