BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WISH) – Beech Grove is now home to the third largest wheat milling plant in the nation.

The ribbon on the expanded Archer Daniels Midland plant was cut today.

The wheat that’s processed there serves customers in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. The plant can now handle 420 tons of wheat a day.

While the plant expansion doesn’t add jobs, it means the jobs already at the plant, will stay there.

Mayor Dennis Buckley (D) Beech Grove said, “this also brings in major national companies such as Nabisco, Quaker Oats and Newlywed foods, who come here to buy wheat from ADM. So this is a good deal for local farmers as well.”

ADM has been part of Beech Grove since 1993. The company spent about 30 million on the expansion. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
