INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — No one was hurt after a train and a lumber truck collided on the east side of Indianapolis Thursday morning.

It happened at Massachusetts Avenue and North Olney Street around 10:55 a.m.

Police dispatchers with IMPD say officers with their department responded. No injuries were reported to anyone on the CSX train or in the truck.

Officers at the scene say the arms of the crossing were coming down and the driver of the truck didn’t see the train coming. The driver thought he would be able to clear the tracks in time, but the front of the train’s blade hit the rear of the truck.

Dispatchers say Indiana State Police were sending an inspector to the scene. Some of the lumber the truck was carrying spilled onto the roadway.

Massachusetts Avenue was shut down from Dearborn to Sherman. Police anticipated the intersection would be back open before 2 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
