INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The public now can vote for their favorite among 78 young singers from around Indiana who are vying to perform at the Indiana State Fair.

Audition videos can be viewed here.

The top 10 vote getters in junior and senior divisions of the “Vocal Throwdown” will be invited to perform on the State Fair’s Main Street Stage on Aug. 2. They will perform before a panel of judges who will narrow the contenders to five in each division. The finalists will perform again on Aug. 9 and the two division champions will be named.

The voting runs through July 20. Winners in each division will receive $500 and a trophy.

The contest was open to any non-professional, Indiana resident performer ages 6 to 21. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
