Suspect turns himself in after Saturday morning shooting death

MARION, Ind. (WISH) – The Marion Police Department said a man turned himself in Saturday morning following a homicide investigation.

A 911 call was received by the Marion Police Dispatch, but the caller hung up the phone after making the call. Police went to the home in the 800 block of South McClure Street, but no one answered the door.

The brother of the suspect called a few moments later, from a different location, saying his brother had dropped of a child off and told him a female was shot on South McClure Street.

Police arrived at the home and found the victim in the bedroom. She was shot one time in the head, according to police.

A 6-year-old who was unharmed and sleeping was also found in the home.

The suspect, 39-year-old Christopher Rennaker, turned himself in to police.
