INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police say a woman was found dead in an apartment complex on the northwest side of Indianapolis Sunday night and her boyfriend is a person of interest in the death investigation.

According to IMPD Officer Rafael Diaz, homicide detectives were called to the scene in the 4600 block of Lynnfield Road around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. That’s near the area of West 46th Street and High School Road.

Callers told police a male was outside the apartments screaming that his girlfriend was dead. The woman’s boyfriend also called 911.

Police said he was very distraught during the phone call and also when officers arrived on scene. He was taken in for police questioning as a person of interest, according to Diaz.

Police said the victim had signs of trauma on her body, but they wouldn’t say what that trauma was.

The couple lived together in that apartment where she was found, according to Diaz.

The Marion County Coroner will release the victim’s identity and cause of death following an autopsy.

Detectives urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS (8477). Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274637 (CRIMES).
