PUTNAM COUNTY (WISH) – A crash on I-70 westbound near mile marker 30, killed a driver of a tractor trailer.

The crash happened at 12:36 Monday afternoon. Two tractor-trailers and a passenger car were involved.

Initial investigation reports show that traffic in the westbound lanes were slowing for construction work. One of the tractor-trailers failed to slow, the driver hit another tractor-trailer causing that trailer to strike a passenger car in the rear.

The driver of the tractor-trailer that failed to stop was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thomas Scorg, 59, the driver of the car and Arron Smith, 50, the driver of the second tractor-trailer were both taken to Putnam County Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The deceased driver’s name is pending autopsy results. The autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Westbound lanes of traffic closed following the crash. Traffic was diverted to US 31 North to US 40 West for several hours.
