Driver dies after one-vehicle crash on I-70

PUTNAM COUNTY (WISH) – A driver involved in a single vehicle crash had no vital signs when paramedics arrived to the scene on Monday afternoon.

Life paramedics were able to regain vital signs to the driver. The driver was then taken to Putnam County Hospital in critical condition. He later died of his injuries.

The crash happened at 3:54 Monday, on Interstate 70 near mile marker 47. According to the initial investigation a black 1997 Ford van was traveling westbound and veered off the north side of I-70. The car hit several large bushes and a few trees before coming to a rest in a ditch.

The hospital believed the driver, 74-year-old Francis Paquette of Massachusetts may have had a medical emergency before the crash happened. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
