East side SWAT situation ends peacefully

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Members of the SWAT team were called to the east side of Indianapolis Monday afternoon to the scene where a person was badly injured.

It happened in the 3600 block of Long Wharf Drive around 11:30 a.m. This is in the area of East 38th Street and North Mitthoeffer Road.

Officers found Alan Castellanos,28,  with “significant neck trauma,” caused by a stab wound. The man lost a lot of blood and was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

SWAT searched nearby apartments and was then sent to the 9600 block of East 38th Street, the last known home for the suspect in the violent incident. 36-year-old Jesus Martinez surrendered to police around 3 p.m. and was taken in for questioning.

Martinez faces preliminary charges of aggravated battery and battery with a deadly weapon.

Castellanos was still listed in critical, but stable condition as of 7 p.m. Monday.

The case remained under investigation as police tried to determine the motive behind the incident.
