PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Police have released the name of a man killed in a crash on Interstate 70 in Putnam County Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes near the 30 mile marker.

Police say a Freightliner tractor, driven by 46-year-old Robert P. Deakin of Avon, failed to stop for slowing traffic for an unknown reason and hit another tractor-trailer in the rear. Deakin was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer was owned by Phoenix Metals of Middletown, Ohio.

The Putnam County Coroner says Deakin died of blunt force trauma. Two other people were taken to a Putnam County hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
