Shots fired narrowly miss woman struck by car

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police in Indianapolis are investigating a hit-and-run crash that also involved shots being fired on the city’s east side Tuesday night.

Police responded to East Washington Street and Gladstone Avenue around 11 p.m. for reports of a person shot. When they arrived they found a woman that had been hit by a car.

Investigators say the woman was not shot but was struck by a car that left the scene. The woman suffered a broken leg and multiple injuries and was in stable condition at Eskenazie Hospital.

According to police, shots were fired but the bullets were apparently intended for the occupants of another vehicle.
