Police release name of suspect arrested for the murder of gas station clerk

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An arrest for the murder of a gas station clerk has been made.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department made an arrest in the Joe’s Junction gas station shooting that claimed the life of 45-year-old Harry Briggs on June 4.

IMPD arrested Desi Thomas, 22, for the shooting death of Briggs.

Briggs was shot in the head during an armed robbery at the Kix 66 gas station in the 5200 block of West Troy Avenue. The shooting took place around 10:15 p.m.

When police found Briggs, he was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. Briggs died a few days later.

Thomas is preliminarily charged with murder. A final decision of charges will come from the Marion County Prosecutor’s office.  A news conference will be held Thursday afternoon to release further information surrounding the ongoing investigation.
