INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis girl who was diagnosed at birth with chronic kidney disease was the latest recipient of a gift from the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Thursday.

5-year-old Bella Cruz underwent a kidney transplant last year.

“They gave her a few minutes to a few days to live if she even survived the delivery at all,” Bella’s mother, Gia Cruz, said.

Gia gave Bella the gift of life by giving her one of her kidneys.

Bella loves all things princess so she told the Make-A-Wish volunteers she wished for a castle in her backyard to spend more time with her family, especially her brother Conner, who she considers to be her prince. On Wednesday, that dream came true.

Volunteers built her a castle complete with a drawbridge, a tower, two slides, a bird house and a place for her toy animals.
