INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In less than a month, motorcycles will be taking over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Moto GP will showcase the best and fastest in motorcycle racing on August 10.
On Thursday, 24-Hour News 8’s Brooke Martin got to experience the thrill first-hand, riding on the back of a Honda CBR1000RR Superbike.
In three laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, the curves brought Brooke and her driver Chris Ulrich’s heads within feet of the track. They reached speeds of 160 mph.
However, compared to race day, it was nothing. Racers in the Moto GP hit top speeds of 210 MPH all while maneuvering around other bikes.
“It’s a physical sport too. We’re not just sitting on top of a motorcycle. I train 15 hours a week just so I can be in my best physical shape to race my superbike week in and week out,” said AMA Pro, Chris Ulrich.
