RURAL PERU, Ind. (WISH) — A woman was flown to an Indiana hospital after suffering serious injuries in a scooter crash Friday morning.

Indiana State Police officers responded to the 2900 block of East Francis Slocum Trail in rural Peru around 11:10 a.m. Police arrived and found an Amboy woman badly inured.

Preliminarily it appears 61-year-old Dora Myers was driving a Verona scooter northbound on the roadway when for an unknown reason the scooter crashed. Myers was ejected from the scooter.

Emergency personnel took Myers by ambulance to Duke’s Memorial Hospital with a severe head injury. She was later flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Police say Myers was not wearing a helmet.

The crash is under investigation. Police say neither alcohol nor narcotics are suspected in the crash. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
