INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Another busy night of events with the Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration wrapped up. And officers we talked with say – for the most part – everything went as planned.
The “All White Affair” after party wrapped up overnight downtown.
The president and CEO of IBE says since 10 people were shot during the Summer Celebration in 2010 they’ve had a plan in place to ensure extra safety and security. That includes a few hundred officers in the downtown area.
Assistant Chief Hicks says it has paid off. “We’re pretty much working the same plan that we’ve worked over the last couple of years. Of course we’ve modified every year from lessons learned from the previous year but yeah we have a nice plan in place and the officers are used to this and they know what to do and things are going very smoothly.”
Assistant Chief Hicks says there were just a few arrests.
One person was taken in for public intoxication.
Officers also caught a man wanted for a violent robbery in South Bend.
