Seymour woman arrested for welfare fraud, theft

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police arrested a Seymour woman on theft and welfare fraud charges following a six-month investigation.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the Indiana Department of WorkForce Development (DWD) received information that Casey N. McCoy, 31, had been getting unemployment benefits while working at Aisin USA in 2011 and 2012.

McCoy continued to file for and receive unemployment benefits during her employment with Aisin.The benefits totaled $16,264.

According to police, with penalties assessed by DWD, McCoy owes the state of Indiana $22,654.25.

McCoy was arrested on felony theft and welfare charges because the amount of unemployment benefits she received was more than $2,500.
