CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — Fire officials believe lightning caused at least two fires in Hamilton County Wednesday morning.

One of the fires was at a home in Carmel in the 14300 block of Alderbrook, near 146th Street and Gray Road. Everyone was able to get out of the home, but the fire badly damaged the roof.

In Noblesville, a lightning strike was also likely the cause of a fire. It happened at 6:24 a.m. in the Lochaven at Noble West neighborhood on Strathaven Road. Residents were also able to escape that fire without injury. The fire left about $30,000 in damages.

A home in Avon also caught fire, and officials there think lightning might be the culprit. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
