INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A boy was hit by a car while riding his bike Thursday evening, now police are looking for the driver who ran off.

The incident happened at the intersection of Shelby Street and Southern Avenue on the city’s southeast side.

Witnesses say the boy was riding his bike across the street, when a vehicle turned the corner and hit him.

While Donald Burton and other witnesses ran to help, Burton says, the driver ran off.

“I ran over here and made sure that no one moved him or anything, I put my bag under his head so he could just sit there and have his head propped up, and he seemed to be alright. He was little scared.”

No word on the boy’s condition as of Thursday evening.

Witnesses say the passenger in the car stayed at the scene with the car. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
