INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – NASCAR driver Danica Patrick giving back in the city that made her famous, taking part in the healthy mouth movement.
Danica was outside the YMCA on the northeast side with a sponsor that provides free dental care for those who need it most in a fully-equipped dental office on wheels.
Patrick, who finished 33rd in her first Brickyard race last July, told us her office on wheels, the number 10 Go-Daddy stock car, has seen steady improvement.
“I keep learning more and more all the time. Getting more confident all the time, but still a long way to go,”said Danica.
“I mean I feel like I have a lot of good people around me I can learn from which is incredibly beneficial for me, but you know the team’s getting stronger, getting better. I mean everything is just getting better.”
Patrick drives for Tony Stewart and Stewart-Haas Racing. Fellow driver Kurt Busch did the double in May, running in the 500, and then flying to North Carolina to drive in NASCAR’s 600-mile event.
Can she ever see trying it?
“I never say never, but I’m good. I love Indy, and if there were to be an opportunity where I felt like I had a chance to win and wasn’t going to take away from either of them, and it was a great plan with good cars, then I’d definitely entertain the idea.”
The 21st Brickyard race runs Sunday.
