MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Officials in Madison County say a second person has died as the result of a crash that happened north of Anderson Wednesday evening.

The crash happened on State Road 9, at Cottonwood Drive, around 6 p.m. Investigators say a van was heading northbound on SR 9 when the driver lost control, crossed the center line, crashed into a ditch and then hit a utility pole.

The female passenger in the van was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van later died at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Police say a 7-month-old child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health after the crash and was listed in stable condition Wednesday evening.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver and female passenger as Clayton R. Crumley 21, and Tabitha G. Oliver, 20, both of Summitville.
