SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – The Town of Speedway is gearing up for another busy weekend as the Brickyard 400 gets underway. And that means keeping fans safe is top of mind.
Speedway Police say multiple agencies are on hand this weekend to help beef up the presence in and around the track.
They say personal safety is important. Lock up valuables and your vehicles, and if you see something, say something.
“We have enough people to make sure that the coke lot stays safe and we’re reaching out the public and asking if there is something they see to call us, so we can get to the area that we need to check out.”
Over the Indy 500 weekend, there were two shootings in the Coke Lot. One left a man dead.
Speedway police say no arrests have been made, but the investigation is still active and they are optimistic.
